Life — a Vacation!

I wrote a response today to a fellow blogger. I’d like to share it with you to know what your thoughts and feelings are about it. Here’s the response:

It’s good to have some goals and achieve them. Achievements give us a sense of fulfillment, but when you’ve already achieved great things in life, you realize that what matters really is that your living and celebrating life. Life for me is a vacation — something you savor, something you are excited about, something you want to enjoy. No pressures, no worries, just clean fun and silly giggles. 🙂

This is Michael — our new friend. He is staying with us for about a week. He’s exiled from home — I don’t know why. 😦 All I know was that he was gonna be dumped. Poor friend and student of mine came running to me the other day, pleading to take him in. I felt something special about him…I said yes despite my housemates’ disapproval.

“One week.” I said to her. “Let’s see if they’d learn to love him after a week. If so, then he stays.”

It’s his third day now. Getting more energetic and playful. I’m beginning to get use to him around. I think he’s cute, and meek, and gentle, and cuddly, I feel like I’m “partying” each day, and… huhu. I like him.

Housemates played with him yesterday… They named him Michael… because Michael Buble was singing in the background while they played 🙂

I hope they play more…
so he can STAY.

This a collage of letters from my students before. Most of them graduated from college just last month, and that just makes me so happy. 🙂

A Short Story, Part 2

images (1)

The familiar burbling sounds came back. They faded in from below me growing louder every second. I thought I was hearing the same sounds, but I realized they were different as they amplified. I looked down to see where they came from. It looked like a ball of light covered by white and dark clouds. The dark clouds were slowly covering the ball of light creeping like shadows in the night. Each moved with terror and grief drowning every white cloud deep below it.

The sounds were actually voices that came from the white and dark clouds. Some were happy voices, some were sad. There were voices of excitement and thrill, while there were those of frustration and disappointment. Their sound became dissonant as they intertwined in the distance creating a heavy feeling that is incomprehensible.

A Short Story

images

“What to write? What to write?” I asked myself repeatedly as I sat quietly with a heavy heart, hoping the emotions lingering in the inner depths of my being would speak louder and clearer. I tried to concentrate, and allow myself to immerse into nature’s often neglected realm. I could hear my heart throbbing, complementing the thumping sound of footsteps echoing along our corridor. The fan kept turning, painting a whirl in my mind as I dissolved into a trance powered by the squishing sound of the running water from the shower room. I felt the swish and the swash that turned into burbling sounds as nature transported me into the jaws of my humanity.

I was thrown into nothingness. Down I went into what seemed an endless fall. Looking up, I saw the light fading from the opening. The sound faded as well but only for a short while. There was silence everywhere making me feel numb with cold. Things weren’t making sense, you see. I was falling, I know, yet I was getting lighter as I fall.

*To be continued…

*Friends, I’m cooking up a short story. It doesn’t have a title yet… Will figure it out later. 🙂

On a Clear Sky

On April 14, Niue’s sky showed an enchanting spectacle that wowed every soul on Niue Island. Thanks to Mrs. Sue Vial who took photos of the stunning star of that night, we have something to go back to that reminds us of that one beautiful night. The stunning photo above of the lunar eclipse that was seen on Niue’s sky was taken using a Nikon D7100 camera with an 18-300 lens.

Thanks friends for the 1000 likes.
