Mantra for the Week

1503231_652499628118833_1046048641_n

A friend of mine shared this on Facebook, and I thought it would be a really good mantra for me this week. You might also like it, so I’m putting it up here just in case.

I reckon this is a good reminder for all of us as we do forget about this sometimes especially on occasions when we’re clouded by anger, frustration, jealousy, or greed. It would especially be difficult to do this with our enemies, but hey, let’s challenge ourselves.

I remember a friend relating to me an incident that happened inside a big mall in the Philippines. A stranger came to her and tried to talk to her, but her mind was preoccupied with so many things she ended up ignoring him. A couple of minutes later, she heard people screaming — the stranger decided to end his life by jumping off the railing. He was dead on the spot.

“I should have talked to him,” my friend said to me. “Now, it’s too late.”

    Hello dear Mockinbird.
I hope you are doing well… Great post here… A great moral of the brief story … You are so right when you highlight that sometimes we do forget to be kind as we are like clouded by different feelings such as anger, frustration, jealousy, or greed.
We should challenge ourselves in order to become every day a little bit better than we are, even when we might find difficult to manage what we feel..
    Great reminder,
Have a very nice week ahead, best regards Aquileana 🙂

Thanks Aquileana! I am alright… I think… although I’m going through a lot of thinking about me and the future. I wish I could go back to how it was before — I was a child, dreaming, dancing the child’s dance. Things are just way way complicated I guess. Not that I’m giving up, but I’m sure you would agree that as you age, life’s dance could get so fast and complicated, it wears you down.

Glad you agree! We all need each other.

One night, almost midnight, as I parked my car, there’s a guy who tapped on my car window. He wanted to hitchhike a ride back to his house. I don’t mean to he prejudice but he did look like someone who would do something unpleasant. He’s a complete stranger. You know what. I let him hop in my car. I was so nervous as hell as I was driving.

It’s not easy to be kind esp. to strangers.

There is this line that Vytas from Survivor: Blood vs. Water (set in Philippines yea yeah). He said, “I want the world to be a place where we can trust first, and If someone break it then we don’t trust.”

It doesn’t cost to be kind. I try to live my life always by this mantra. It is so good of you to put out the reminder Mock. We know not what burdens others carry. xo

It’s a very good way to live your life, trying always to be kind. A few kind words to a stranger, as I know through writing on wordpress, can make a huge difference.
