Music and Me

It’s just the first hour of the day. I’m wide awake. The dream that I just had from ‘sleep’ — I’m thinking about it right now… In my dream, there was this young boy who sings so beautifully. He had this particular style in singing, but his voice was so pure and raw, so innocent, no traces of training — just pure talent. If you listen to Michael Jackson when he was still very young singing ‘Music and Me’, that more or less captures what I’m saying here. And what’s more fascinating was that he was singing the song that I used to sing in church — Send Me. And he was singing it confidently, without hesitation. He even improvised and changed the lyrics a bit to suit what he felt at that moment… and I was just there, standing by his side, coaching him, making him feel he was doing alright. We were with two other people in that dream. And these two lovely people were my mentors before in high school when I joined Glee Club. Both of them were also listening intently, like me. Like I could see from their faces the amazement and awe and wonder… He’s just amazing.

I don’t know what to say. That boy just blew me away. I have a lot of maybe’s here. Maybe that was me looking at myself, maybe that was God reminding me of something, maybe, maybe, maybe… But they all point to the same direction — God and me.

“There will always be a road that leads to someone’s waiting arms, someone waiting for a saving hope to come. My life, I’ll give. I’ll be Your arms to that someone, Lord. Here I am send me.” When our College Glee Club Conductor, Sir Poks, asked me to sing this song the first time, I made a promise to the Lord to shape my life through this very song. And since then, I’ve always made an effort to touch other people’s lives working around with whatever I could give. But human as I am, I could get clouded sometimes by worldly things and challenges and problems. And this is one of those moments when I feel as if someone is reminding me of that promise.

I have a feeling that some changes in my life will be coming soon. It’s as if a chapter of a book is coming to an to end and I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next chapter. I’m thrilled and excited, but I’m at same time anxious of what’s going to happen. I guess I’ll just lift it all up to Him.
